Lists & Goals

Whilst watching the film Dirty Dancing new years’ eve, I started thinking about listing my top films. Dirty Dancing definitely is one of them for me, so I thought about the others. If one of them is on TV then it would be something I’d watch even if they were half way through. This also made me think about other lists including things my person would enjoy (I may or may not have been inspired seeing Patrick Swayze!), books I want to read in 2026 (bit of a segue I…

A year ago I was trying to rewrite a literature review for my thesis, to do that I had to read a lot of other people’s research papers so I could find out what they did, what their position about the research was and any tips or issues they found during their work. While I generally like reading, I struggle reading research papers, especially the amount of papers I had to read for that…

Lactofree Instant Pot Cheesecake

I made an Lactofree cheesecake in my Instant Pot yesterday as I had been drooling over all the yummy pictures but I’m lactose intolerant. Attached is the PDF recipe if you would like to try it. I used the recipe Amy + Jacky created (well version #17!) as a base then switched out the lactose containing products for lactose free ones, although had to make a few other adjustments as Arla don’t have a sour cream in the Lactofree range, just a regular one. You can switch it up with…

Heading off to University?

A New Adventure September brings with it the start of a new adventure for many in the UK – heading off to school, college, or university, either for the first time, or returning for another year of study. In the shops there are “back 2 school” or “student” items everywhere, stationery, clothing, and all you could ever need and more for your student life! Some of the items I have seen so far are guaranteed to get you in trouble from day one (the pen with a slingshot on the…

Project: Move – Part One

Project: Move - Part One

Moving, for me, has always been a complete nightmare. My family had never moved house before, so when it came to me leaving home for the first time to head to university half way up the country, I had no idea of the best way or resources to use to pack my kit up. This equally made moving between student accommodation each year a complete pain in the butt! I have learnt a lot about how not to do it since that first move back in 2001! When I arrived…

Zotero

Project Organisation – Digital Paperwork Using Dropbox And Zotero One of the biggest things when doing a project is keeping everything organised, especially when you have collected a wide variety of resources from several different places. Most of the resources I am using for my dissertation are in PDF format as they are research papers rather than books, so I have a specific folder on my Dropbox account where I save any articles to that I come across in my initial searching. I make sure I rename the file to…

Dissertation Topic Area Sorted

Research Papers

The Dissertation I am currently doing my masters dissertation, I have to write a 15,000 word research paper on a topic in an area of my choice related to my masters degree course (MSc Information Security & Digital Forensics). Although the word count isn’t too bad, I have written more in a month for NaNoWriMo, the searching for and reading existing research papers on and around the topic area is a large task, especially when you have chosen a topic that is still in its infancy. I also have to…

I’ve not been using my planner & it has been disastrous

Not only have I not been using my awesome Holborn Filofax, I have also not even been using anything else to plan! That is dispite purchasing a really cool Moleskin planner on a recent trip as well! I bought the Moleskin planner as the pages are not white (they are cream), which is great for me, and I thought it would be lighter to carry around than my zipped A5 Holborn – which it is, however I just have not been putting things into it. It is suddenly March and…
