I have been away from my blog for a year now 🙁 partly because my desktop computer broke and partly because work has got in the way. During the past year, I have been promoted at work, been bitten by a dog on my first official day of my promotion whilst at work, worked at several different pubs in my area and ran one outside of my area for 10 days. Had my hours reduced so much that I had to go back to doing some supply teaching, and then…Read More

Kit and Planning for NaNoWriMo
For those of you that don’t know what NaNoWriMo is, it stands for National Novel Writing Month and the challenge is to write a 50,000 word novel in the 30 (or 31) days of the particular month you are setting aside for the challenge. My Filofax – All Change!
I have recently been suffering from extreme shoulder and arm pain, also affecting my neck muscles at times as well. So I made the decision to try and use my mini Metropol Filofax on the go and then use my A5 zipped Holborn again at home, instead of my VERY stuffed and rather solid, brick like personal Malden! This will mean that EVERYTHING will be entered into my A5 and then every week all the weeks appointments get transferred to the weekly pages (the month on 2 pages will be…Read More
Tracking Health – Filofax & Fitbit or Filofax & Pulse?
Since I started my new job at the pub I have been losing weight – without even really trying to. I don’t know how much I weighed when I started but I do know that in the last month I have lost over a stone. I know I had already lost quite a bit as you could already tell in my face and from my slimmer tummy that I had. I wish I knew what I weighed prior to starting working there! I have been using My Fitness Pal app…Read More
A New Job, A New Layout…
Two months ago I started a new job. It might surprise some of you to read that it is not at a school but in a pub near to where I live. It’s only part time but I have been working as many hours as I can to pay the bills and I have been loving it! It has been physically exhausting, mainly because of the heat behind the bar as the bar air con doesn’t really work that well, but its also because there are full washer trays of…Read More
Philofaxy September 2012 Meet Up
A last minute cancellation on Wednesday made it possible for me to be asked if I was free to join September 2012’s Philofaxy meet up in London on the Saturday. A few checks of the Filofax and finances later and I said I could go and the arrangements were then made for the trip to London. The plan was to get an early night in Friday night ready for Saturday’s trip but that didn’t happen and when I finally did get to bed I just couldn’t sleep! By the…Read More
New Filofax Fresh From Sweden!
After a bit of a search online I found a Filofax that I thought might serve as my purse and Filofax. I found it on the Filofax Sweden site, so did a quick currency conversion and then pondered for a bit, but on Sunday I decided to purchase it. I came home from work today (Wednesday) and it had arrived! Brilliant service in my opinion! I opened the parcel and tipped out the contents to find my new organiser, the invoice sheet and some banded diary inserts. I opened the…Read More
Filofax Inserts Update
Well it’s been a few days of using my new set up of a month overview (on 2 pages) with day per page behind it followed by the next month etc. behind that. So far so good! I am really liking how I can see my day in front of me so I know what I need to do when. I have mainly been writing my brief lesson plans for the day time hours but have written in when I am supposed to be packing up to go home, learning…Read More
Month overview sorted!
As I have been procrastinating about doing anything work related as I have been craving some “me” time I have now made myself some month per view pages on light blue paper! This was the 2nd trial – it worked ok! I used the month per view template from Philofaxy and instead of using the Excel sheet it wanted I used the A5 one and re-linked all the months and days. I did this because I got very confused with the personal sized Excel sheet! I also changed the paper…Read More
A5 pages in my personal are annoying
So last week I put some A5 pages I’d made into my personal (punched along the top short edge and folded) so I could write more on the pages. Turns out I don’t like this and it looks messy. Am also not sure if I like the week to view with dpp in between, mainly because there are 7 days in a week but that needs 8 sides of paper and therefore one of next weeks days is not where it should be. For this reason I might resort to…Read More
